Saturday, Feb. 18- 6-2 win over Jamestown Congratulations to Logan Millican, Cody Longie & David HoffWest Region Coach-of-the Year:
West Region All-Tournament Team: Logan Millican West Region Senior Athlete of the Year The 5' 9" 175 lb Forward is the states leading scorer at press time and has set several single game, season and career scoring records for the Braves. The remarkable stat for Millican is he set the career scoring records in just three varsity seasons while the previous record holders for the Braves achieved over for varsity seasons. Logan has scored 50+ points in the last two seasons. He has really matured as a player and has evolved into a complete player. He has really worked hard to become a solid defensive player besides the production he displays in the offensive zone. Millican is a very good student/athlete who works very hard in the classroom. He has been one of the team leaders in supporting a couple of the local charities and organizing activities to benefit these organizations. Head Coach David Hoff said this about Logan: " Throughout Logan's youth playing career he could always score goals. He has an outstanding shot with a very quick release. I have really enjoyed watching him develop as a person and a player. He attends every optional skill development practice and is a weekly participant in our Breakfast Club Skill Development Program for community youth hockey players. He's the player who can't get enough ice time. He is there every time the ice is open." Do or Die for the Bottineau/Rugby BravesThe Bottineau Rugby Braves must win today’s game against Jamest Good Luck to the BRAVES.

Comments- We had 2 very good games against good opponents to finish up the regular season. We needed a win over Minot and then a win over Bismarck Century in regulation to have a chance to win the region. Unfortunately we came up short with the OT win. But we'll deal with it and make sure we are ready for region play. I like the
way we are playing right now- I think we are getting better every |

Schedule
Revised 11/18/11

It was a tough weekend for our players- a tough region game at home on Friday and a long road-trip to West Fargo on Saturday. We didn't necessarily play real well but we found a way to win both games. Kyle Volk has played very well for us the last
couple of weeks- he is getting scoring chances and really making the
most of them. Against Mandan we were down 3-0 about 11 minutes into
the game. We had started fairly well that night but Mandan scored 3
goals in 4 minutes- they really made it tough on us. Cody Brooks West Fargo was a good win in that we had some penalty trouble
in the 2nd period so we had to have several guys step up and fill
some crucial roles in the 2nd and 3rd period. I thought it was a
good team win. |

Millican scored his 32nd goal this evening passing Eric Herbals record held since 2007. Keep up the good work Bottineau/Rugby. | Comments- We had a good weekend picking up 2 wins in region play. It was kind of a crazy weekend in that when we were ready to leave on Friday- both goaltenders were fighting the flu. Cody Brooks was not able to travel with us this weekend- but Riley Monson played his first minutes in varsity play starting both games. I thought the team rallied around him to try to help him out. He made some saves in both games when we needed it. We did a good job of spreading the scoring out consistently through 2 lines- we just need to get a little more production from a 3rd unit. |

It was a good week picking up 3 wins- we actually had 2 Wins with the JV as well this past week. We played a solid game against Boissevain- we played a lot of players in that game and played real solid defensively as a team. I thought we were sloppy Defensively against Williston- I thought they outworked us in our defensive zone. I know the score was 13-4 but we have to take care of the puck better than we did. Bismarck High- I really enjoyed playing in this game- we need more tight battles like this one. Both teams had their times when they controlled the play. They are deeper than we are and it showed at times. I really like how we find a way to make a play when we need it. Nick scored a big goall to get the game tied up after a shift where we really got after them. Logan had a goal to take the lead late after Cody Brooks made a huge save in our own end. It was really nice to see Jackson come up with the game winner- he did a nice job of establishing position in front of the net and making his stick available for the pass which Luke was able to get to him. |
During Fridays high school game against the Williston "Coyotes", Logan Millican stepped off the ice with another "Hat Trick" & a new Bottineau high school scoring record. The 72nd goal of his high school career. The record was broke with Millicans 3rd goal of the night. The "Braves" defeated the Williston Coyotes 13-4.

February 17, 2011 - As the Bottineau High School Braves Hockey team head to Bismarck ND for hopes of qualifying for the state tournament they can be proud of the teams success ending with a total overall record of 11 - 4. The Braves team work capitalized the winning effort on both offense & defensive play. The defensivemen & net minders Senior Michael Kornven & Junior Cody Brooks were able to manage the opponents score giving the edge to Bottineaus offensive play by getting the puck to the net via TEAM WORK. Because of that team work & leasership they have among them three Bottineau Braves that continue to be part of the top ND state high school hockey scoring leaders. Senior & Captain Seth Serhienko has ended the regular season play seated 2nd in the overall scoring leaders category followed by Junior Logan Millican ranked third & Freshman Harrison Aid ranked 7th. The state scoring leader is Logan Rauhauser of Bismarck Century.
Serhienko continues to be unique as he leads the state with overall assists with a total of 34. As stated in the last update, Serhienkos fine eye for the game depicts that the game isn’t just about individuals placing the puck into the net, it is more about how that puck gets there. Younger players & coaches, should take note & capitalize on watching how players can work together to achieve results in the winning department by following the adage PASS SHOOT SCORE.
The Bottineau Braves will be playing in the 4th game of the opening day of the ND West Region Hockey Tournament at 7:30 against Mandan Braves. The Bottineau Braves recently played the Mandan Braves on February 4th for their second meeting of the season with a final score of 11 -1 Bottineau with the win. In their 1st meeting the score was much closer as Bottineau claimed victory 4 - 3. Good Luck to David Hoff & the Bottineau Braves at the West Region Tournament this weekend. - PASS, SHOOT, SCORE !!!

Jan. 29 - Three Bottineau Braves are part of the top ND state high school hockey scoring leaders with Seth Serhienko leading in the state with 43 total points, including 14 goals & 29 assists. Logan Millican is just 2 points behind with a total of 41 overall points, including 26 goals & 15 assists. Freshman Harrison Aide is not far behind, ranked # 4 in the state with 35 points with 17 goals & 18 assists.
Serhienkos fine eye for the game depicts that the game isn’t just about individuals placing the puck into the net, it is more about how that puck gets there. Younger players & coaches, should take note & capitalize on watching how players can work together to achieve results in the winning department by following the adage PASS SHOOT SCORE.
Don’t forget about the defensive play. Teams can’t win by scoring alone. Bottineau’s goalies have been holding their own with a lot of hard work from the defensive men helping them manage the score. Defense is an often overlooked team play aspect. The Bottineau Braves goalies Cody Brooks & Michael Kornkven are both ranked in the top 12.
Good Luck to the Braves & coach Hoff this weekend against Century !!!
PASS, SHOOT, SCORE !!!
Bottineau & Rugby high schools have entered a 3 year agreement to co-op a high school hockey team. The The game schedule will be adjusted to allow some games to be played at Rugby. For the 1st year the team will continue to be known as the Bottineau Braves; as time did not allow for futher adjustments to the program.
